An Alley Between Lexington and Broadway

It was in this alley I found a pair of sneakers that I still wear. Inexplicably, there was a pile of shoes appearing as rubbish, so I took an interesting looking pair that was barely worn. Most people gasp in shock at the story, but what is really the difference between this and buying second hand?
